Micheal Lewis Parham

Micheal Lewis Parham, age 59, of LaGrange, passed away on December 17, 2018 at his residence. He was born on November 27, 1959 to the late Lewis Kimsey Parham and Beulah Matheson Parham in Seneca, South Carolina.  His parents preceded him in death.  Mr. Parham was Baptist by faith. Survivors include his son, Mitchell “Mitch” Parham; grandchild, Hayden Parham;  sister, Diane Penton; nephews, Todd Penton (Nicole) of LaGrange and Chad Collins (Cyndee) of Cashiers, North Carolina; extended family and friends. Services are undecided and will be announced at a later date.

Clarence Oliver “Chuck” Cummings III

Clarence Oliver “Chuck” Cummings III, of LaGrange, passed away on December 27, 2018 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. He was born on February 28, 1961 to Glenda Hall Cummings and the late Clarence Oliver“Bud” Cummings, Jr. in Gadsden, Alabama. He worked at Conaway Electrical Service for 23 years as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety.  Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Tracy Sheridan Cummings; son, Clarence Oliver “Chadd” Cummings IV (Tiffany); daughter, Brandi Cummings; sisters, Dawn Coker (Tom), Benè Knowles (Woody), Kim Hearn (Kelly), Holly Jones (Marc), Melanie Keith (Jerry); grandchildren, Dillian Cummings, Cameron Cummings, Clarence Oliver“Casen” Cummings V; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends; his K-9 companion, Georgia. Family had visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Higgins Lagrange Chapel. Funeral service was held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the St. Marks Episcopal Church. Interment followed at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Carol J. Gaston

Carol J. Gaston, 56, of LaGrange passed away December 24, 2018 at her home. Carol was born August 1, 1962 in Gay Georgia the daughter of the late Willie Henry and Pearl Middlebrooks Gaston. She was a 1980 graduate of Greenville High School and received an Associate Degree in computer science from DeVry Institute. Carol was employed at JB Systems in LaGrange as an inside sales manager of over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her Brothers, Willie Henry Gaston, Jr and Ira Gaston. Survivors include her Sons: Curtis Reese, III, LaGrange, Ga and Chadrick J Reese, Opelika, AL, One grandson, Devontae (DJ) Snelling, Sisters and Brother-in-laws, Vernice (LeRoy) Rosser, Grantville, GA, Mae (Wayne) Rosser, Hogansville, GA
Special niece and nephew Ebony (Kelvin) Coleman, Villa Rica, GA Maurice (Monique) Rosser, Marietta, GA, Best Friends, Latrella Robinson, Grantville, GA and Donelta Perkin-Aninye of Atlanta, Ga, as well as a host of relatives, friends and associates. Funeral services for Carol J. Gaston were held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 30, 2018 from the Total Faith Missionary Church of God in Luthersville, GA with Minister Louiston Jackson and Reverend E. L. Jimmerson officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery (Primrose Road) Greenville, GA.

James Andrew Burks, Jr.

Mr. James Andrew Burks, Jr. was born to the late James Andrew Burks, Sr. and Katie Burks on June 4, 1949 in Troup County, Georgia. “Jr.” as he was known by many, entered the United States Airforce and retired as a Master Sergeant after eighteen years of service. He was a member of St. James CME Church. James was united in Holy Matrimony to Catherine Ann Russell, from this union four sons were born. Later in life, he remarried and from that union, two daughters were born. On Friday, December 21, 2018, James entered Eternal Rest at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. Survivors include four sons:  Richard Burks, Sanford (Johniar) Burks, Anthony (Yashica) Burks, and Daryl (Rochelle) Burks; two daughters:  Tisha Burks and Erica Burks; one god-son, Ernest Adams, II; eight grandchildren:  Cornorris Burks, Niakoe Burks, Justice Burks, Mayah Burks, Kayden Burks, Delino Burks, Tahj Sampier Burks, Donchelle Carr-Burks; one god grandson, Makhiven Adams; two sisters:  Apostle Mary Edwards and Anita Curry) Delaney; four brothers:  Ronnie (Gail) Burks, Donnie Burks, Douglas (Debbie) Burks, Jack (Dorothy) Burks; sister-in-law, Gloria Burks; special friends, including fiancé, Janice Todd; Tyrone Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Dowdell, Mrs. Kay Durand; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 at St. James CME Church. Pastor Lovett Thornton officiated. Interment will take place on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Canton National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. The family will be at their home at 118 Royal Court.

 

JoAnn White Potts

Mrs. JoAnn White Potts was born May 10, 1955 to Lilla Mary Richardson in Delaware. She was reared in LaGrange, Georgia and graduated from LaGrange High School, Class of 1974. “Joyful” as she was called, was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Horace Potts. She was self-employed as a Colon Therapist. On Friday, December 21, 2018, JoAnn passed away in Decatur, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel P. Florestal; grandparents, John and Mary White, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Corey B. (Flamonica) Potts; five grandchildren:  Corshaud Potts, Ramon Potts, Cornelius Potts, ZyMiracle Potts, Kierra Potts; six great grandchildren; mother, Lilla Mary Richardson; sisters:  Janice McLean, JacQueline Mack, and Mary Richardson; aunt, Johnnie L. White, Hempstead, NY; uncle, Archie (Willie Bell) White, Dayton, OH; best friend, Calandra Massey; and a host of relatives and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Triump Holiness Church. Bishop Larry D. White and Pastor Sam Cameron officiated. Interment followed at Southview Cemetery.

 

Diana Denise McCord Bailey

Ms. Diana Denise McCord Bailey was born January 1, 1964 to the late Willie Roger and Sylvine McCord in Bessemer, Alabama. She grew up in LaGrange, Georgia and was educated in the LaGrange Public School System. Diane enjoyed caring for people which led her to become a CNA. She was also very outgoing and enjoyed cooking. On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, Diana passed away at the age of fifty-four at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers:  Gladys Merideth and Lucenda McCord. She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Taylor Monae’  McCord; one son, Ryan Dakota McCord; four grandchildren:  Travis, Darius, Mason, and Zoey, all of LaGrange, GA; four sisters:  Darlene (John) Page-Ivey, Tuscaloosa, AL; Cathy McCord, LaGrange, GA; Debbie Simpson, Bessemer, AL; and Sabrina McCord, LaGrange GA; special nephews:  Caridus McCord, DeAngello “Goosie” McCord, Ronnie “Bay-Bay” McCord; five uncles, six aunts; special sisters:  Bertha Cannon, Rose Wilkinson, Erma Tucker, and Betty Jackson; special friends, LeGree McCamey, Dr. W. T. Edmondson, and Rev. C. F. Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews. The Celebration of Life Service was Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Confidence Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. W. T. Edmondson officiated. Interment followed at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. The family will be at their home at 126 Royal Court.
