LaGrange Police arrested an Alabama Man Thursday night after catching him red-handed trying to burglarize a local tire shop.

Thursday night, about 8:23 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to Waid Tire Services on Hamilton Road in reference to burglar alarm.

Officers arrived on scene and located a suspect using an angle grinder to enter the rear door of the business. The suspect, Major Bryant McLaughlin, of Five Points, AL, was then detained along with two other individuals who were found near a truck that was parked at the rear of the building.

Police confirmed visible damage to the rear door. It was later determined by police that McLaughlin acted alone in the attempted break-in. He later admitted to trying to enter the closed business to obtain property.

McLaughlin was also determined to have an active warrant for his arrest through Troup County State Court for Failure to Appear.

The two other subjects were interviewed and released once police learned that they were unaware of McLaughlin’s intentions.

McLaughlin, age 37, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Jail where he was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary.
